Continuum of Care Rapid Re-Housing program provides temporary financial assistance for housing and case management to qualified homeless individuals and families who are in the 71 counties called the Mississippi Balance of State.

Chronically Homeless Permanent Supportive Housing 

The Chronically Homeless Permanent Supportive Housing Program in Meridian, MS is for an unaccompanied homeless individual with a disabling condition who has been continuously homeless for a year or more.

Program Eligibility

*Individual must be literally homeless.

Literally homeless is: An individual or family who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, meaning:

Has a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not meant for human habitation;

02

Is living in a publicly or privately operated shelter designated to provide temporary living arrangements (including congregate shelters, transitional housing, and hotels and motels paid for by charitable organizations or by federal, state and local government programs);

03

Household must be homeless or about to become homeless. Household unit must meet fair market rent for assistance.

*Client must be chronically homeless in Meridian, MS.

Chronically homeless is:

01

An unaccompanied homeless individual with a disabling condition who has been continuously homeless for a year or more OR

02

An unaccompanied individual with a disabling condition who has had at least four episodes of homelessness in the past three years.

GRANT PROGRAMS

Program Summary

Rapid Re-Housing

The rapid rehousing assistance helps with rental payments, security/utility deposits, moving costs, and case management to individuals and families experiencing homelessness across the state of Mississippi. The permanent housing placement assistance is specifically for individuals who are about to become homeless due to an eviction notice. The household income must be 30% of the area median income. Additionally, the program may provide job search assistance, transition assistance, negotiations with landlords, transportation, and financial management/budgeting assistance.

Solutions Grant

Emergency Solutions Grant assists the unsheltered homeless by connecting them with emergency shelters, housing or critical services and provides them with urgent non-facility based care.

To participate in the Emergency Solutions Rapid Re-Housing Program, the individual must be literally homeless. 

Literally homeless is: An individual or family who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, meaning:

Has a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not meant for human habitation;

02

Is living in a publicly or privately operated shelter designated to provide temporary living arrangements (including congregate shelters, transitional housing, and hotels and motels paid for by charitable organizations or by federal, state and local government programs);

03

Is exiting an institution where (s)he has resided for 90 days or less and who resided in an emergency shelter or place not meant for human habitation immediately before entering that institution
